Kings Replaces Avionics In Columbia 300 Under Special Offer From Columbia Aircraft

Kings Avionics recently installed two Garmin MX-20 MFDs in a Columbia 300 aircraft to replace an MFD system no longer supported by its manufacturer, under terms of a special offer from Columbia Aircraft. The installation was made in conformance with Columbia Service Letter #SL-05-016, which includes removal of the older Avro Tec FMP 300 system and replacing it with the MX-20s at a special price to owners of Columbia aircraft.

The Columbia 300, which is co-owned and flown by Nancy Huntsman and Jeff Wright of Salt Lake City, receives its position information from a GX 50 GPS system already installed in the aircraft. The MX-20 multi-function display offers an impressive list of features and graphic interfaces. With its large active-matrix display, it offers the highest resolution in its class, and is a fully integrated "big picture" pilot information center. It shows you, at a glance, your aircraft's position and track on a VFR or IFR style navigation chart, with course lines, waypoints and flight progress displayed over realistic terrain depictions. Added safety is provided by a built-in terrain elevation database that color codes relevant ground features in relation to your aircraft altitude, alerting you as you approach rising terrain.

The MX-20 will also integrate with various onboard weather radar, lightning, traffic awareness and datalink systems that enable uploading of real-time graphical weather information and NEXRAD radar depictions--and when teamed with the Garmin GNS 480 becomes WAAS-capable. Garmin says the MX-20 can interface with most manufacturers' GPS navigation equipment, and that when coupled to Garmin GPS and VHF nav systems, it can provide extra features and levels of convenience that exceed those of other systems costing far more.

If you own a Columbia Aircraft with the no longer support Avro Tec FMP 300 MFD system, call us at 801-539-8412, for information about how you may be able to have it replaced with Garmin MX-20s at an attractive limited time price. Ask for Doug or Jim.
