Do You Know That Your Garmin GNS 530 And 430 Can Do All This?
Kings Avionics service techs who service Garmin GNS 530 and 430 units installed by some "economy" avionics shops have discovered that some of them are not wired, not programmed, or do not have interface units installed to provide many services this equipment is designed to deliver. In other words, that "bargain deal" some aircraft owners thought they got may not have been such a bargain at all. Here are just some of the things these Garmin units can do, if properly installed:
- Encode altimeter inputs to provide increased accuracy and quicker GPS acquisition time.
- CDI outputs to most autopilots and roll steering output to drive digital autopilots to provide full GPS, VOR and ILS coupling from takeoff to touchdown.
- Inputs and outputs to provide data to many different fuel totalizers and fuel flow systems.
- Options to remote tune most DME units.
- Options to provide GPS position data to other moving maps or lap map systems.
- Drive outputs for RMI and EFIS systems in conjunction with GAD 42 converter.
- Display TERRAIN and meet the Class B TAWS mandate (500 series units only).
- Display traffic awareness with compatible TAS systems.
This is just a partial list of benefits you probably won't get if your choice of an installer is based on price alone. When you pay for a Garmin GNS 530 or 430, why settle for just a portion of what this fine equipment is designed to give you? A "cheap buy" may be the costliest buy you can make. If you are wondering what you are not getting from Garmin units, come by and let's check it out.
