How Avionics Trays Respond To G-Loads Can Make Or Break Your Day...

How avionics are mounted in your aircraft may seem non-critical to flight, but in many cases, when avionics mounting trays are installed near controls, cables, chains, pulleys, etc., 1/4-inch of avionics tray movement, due to sudden or unexpected G-loads, can result in partial or complete loss of elevator or even aileron control. One out of three installations we do requires a change order to add "back straps" that had previously been removed. The mounting tray and back strap assembly has to meet static load requirements of AC 43.13-2A (in many cases, up to 9.0 G for Part 23 and Part 25 aircraft.) This requires special measuring tools. We perform these tests on each new tray, bracket, shelf or other fabrication we install to assure your safety in flight, whatever conditions you encounter.
