What Does Your Avionics Warranty Really Cover?
To most avionics purchasers, the term, "factory warranty" has a reassuring ring to it. But there are differences in the warranties of different manufacturers. Some are more restrictive than others when providing for how much a manufacturer will pay an avionics shop if service under warranty is needed. The less the factory pays, the more the customer may have to pay. This may come as an unpleasant surprise to a customer who has not read his warranty. It pays to know what the factory will pay, and what you will have to pay if service is needed under warranty, before making a choice between different brands of avionics products you are considering.
